1: ACTUAL: Kofererhof, Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige, Italy 2024 ❌GUESS: sauv blanc USA 2024
- what learned: perception wrong (tricked self into smelling grass), jumped to conclusion taking grass to sauv even though i did perceive a honey aroma that seemed off
- tasting notes: beautiful white flower slight honey aroma. i liked it. learned from MW that lees is very pinot noir. bitter. medium acid never going to be that high

2: ACTUAL: Dom les Hautes Noelles, Melon de Bourgogne, Muscadet Grandlieu, Loire, FR 2020 ❌GUESS: Chard? Austria?
- what i learned: i did not have a clear guess here because it didnt match anything i’ve had before. i got the funk
- tasting notes: i hated this. smelled disgusting. i think that was the lees / aggressive style of this wine

3: ACTUAL: Alzinger, Gruner Veltliner, 'Loibenberg,' Federspiel, Wachau, Austria 2022 ❌GUESS: sauv blanc nz.
- learned: wrong perception of grass. brain used it to jump to conclusions. white pepper is gruner. i did get it on the palate.
- tasting notes: smelled like white cheese pasta. white pepper you can smell

- notes: caramel, chocolate. shoulda guessed spain (tondonia) so much of that chocolate oak flavor

5: ACTUAL: Cerbaie, Sangiovese, Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy 2022 ❌GUESS: nebiollo langhe 2023
- learned: sangiovesse is more savory. lower tannin and none of that floral bouquet of nebiollo
- notes: orange color & light concentration AND presence of grippy tannins made me think nebiollo. even though i sniffer hard and asked myself if it smelled floral / tar (i couldnt really perceive). should have trusted deduction

- notes: no oak perceived, i was confused whether ppl make cab sauv with 0 oak which i why i guessed fab franc. i got the green-ness of cab
